Capacity

Because apartment sized refrigerators are typically a lot smaller than regular refrigerators they have a smaller capacity than normal. Depending on the space available in your apartment, you'll want to find the largest capacity that will fit in that space. (Obviously) So how do we do that? It has everything to do with the dimensions.

A typical apartment size refrigerator width can get up to 28” inches in width; 31-1/4” inches in depth; and 66” inches in height. So be sure to measure your area and get the largest capacity that will fit in your space. The largest I've seen was about 10 cubic feet.

Appearance

Standard size refrigerators come in different colors and designs. For apartment size refrigerators there's no difference. You will mainly find them in white, black, bisque, and normally a stainless-steel look, color. Refrigerators of this size are generally too small for a company to use the metal for so they don't normally make them that size; but for a few extra dollars I'm almost positive you can find stainless steel apartment refrigerators online.

Fit/Dimensions

It's always important when shopping for a refrigerator that you first measure the area the fridge will go. This is the most important step. As an appliance salesman, I can't begin to tell you how many people first find the refrigerator they like and THEN go home to measure the space. All to disappointingly find out it doesn't fit. Some even go as far as buying it, and once it's delivered to their home they find it doesn't fit! Good luck packaging that thing up and paying for the return shipping!

Features

Apartment refrigerators because of their size, have a lot less features than standard size refrigerators. Some of the features you can look for in apartment refrigerators are:

• Adjustable Temperature
• Adjustable Shelves

These are the main features you definitely want in an apartment refrigerator.


Energy Efficiency

The title says it all. Make sure the appliance is EnergyStar or Energy Efficient. Getting a non-efficient appliance can cause you to buy the thing 3 times over in just a few years!
