How to Buy a Blender
A blender is one of those items every kitchen should have. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good one. Just know what your needs are and you should be very happy with what you pay.
Some of the main reasons people have one are:
Smoothies for breakfast or after a work-out Mixing alcoholic beverages Making slushies Blending soups Fluffier omelets Milkshakes Ground coffee beans Crush ice Puree fruit Mix salad dressings
The list goes on and on, be creative! Study the diagram below to understand basic features...
Things to know:
1. What type of speeds will you need? Speeds vary from 1 up to 15. The more speed settings you have, the more you pay. The average household will be fine with 3 speed settings and a pulse which is sometimes required for certain recipes.2. What type of jar do you need? The best type of jar to get is glass. It's still durable and you can easily see through it. Yes, stainless steel will never break, but you can't see anything on the inside. Glass will always get the best results. 3. What design are you looking for? If your appliance will sit on the counter, I would definitely spend the extra money on one that will compliment the other appliances in the kitchen. This is particularly a plus when it comes to staging your home for a resale.

4. How powerful do you want it? Of course the more powerful the appliance, the more money you will spend. Look for a blender that's at least 350 watts.5. What capacity do you need? You can get a jar that holds anywhere from 4 to 7 cups. I would recommend buying the largest size you can afford. This will prevent any spillage while operating. 6. What features do you need? Some features I would recommend looking for is the volume of the device. Some are extremely loud, if that's no concern of yours... money saved! Other features like an inner plug from the diagram above.
Cost: Cost ranges from $99 - $199 for a good one.
Where to Buy: I'd suggest shopping at
Cooking.com
or Amazon.com for the best prices.
Recommendation: I personally recommend the KitchenAid 56-oz. Bar Blender, Chrome . It's powerful, stylish, has a large capacity, fairly quiet and has gotten nothing but excellent reviews. It's also only $129.95 for chrome finish, and 119.95 for every other color.
