Cheap computer monitors can be easily found. After reading this guide, not only will you be able to find a cheap monitor, but you'll also have a quality one as well. I will also show you how to find cheap desktop computers and cheap computer desks!
Types
There are 5 different types of computer monitors:
CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors are a lot like tube TV's. These were the original, large, heavy monitors of old. They provide a great viewing angle just like tube televisions.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitors are the newer, lighter, thinner flat panel monitors. These can be mounted on the wall and can come in sizes that range from 18.5h - 60h. These are the monitors you will generally see at your local BestBuy.com.
Plasma monitors are hardly purchased amongst buyers. They can provide a beautiful picture, however, they emit a great deal of heat and also are energy hogs!
Touchscreen monitors are becoming more popular especially in the all in one computers. These monitors allow you to be more interactive with your computer by having the ability to use your finger, or a pen to scroll around instead of a mouse. These monitors are a lot more expensive than LCD's.
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Display) monitors have very cool technology. They produce the best picture of all other monitors, and when turned off, they can be transparent as glass! Of course with this amazing technology comes an amazing price tag. You can steal a 25-inch OLED monitor for a mere $28,840.... yeah... right. Or you can squint your eyes at a little 11-inch for $2,500!
Refurbished Computer Monitors
Buying refurbished will definitely get you a cheap computer monitor. One thing to keep in mind is that these units have had something wrong with them at one point and were repaired. I would definitely get a SquareTrade Warranty with any refurbished computer monitor.
Now that you know the different types the last thing to do is really determine what size you want. Most of us are going to get LCD's for their reliability, low cost, and versatile mounting options. Also consider built-in speakers, although none will out-do external speakers; and 1080 resolution. With that said, here are my recommendations for a quality, cheap computer monitor:
You are now equipped to find a quality, yet cheap computer monitor. My recommendations will have you straight, but if you would like to shop around more I would recommend Amazon.com. They'll have the lowest prices and you can get unbiased reviews from customers just like you!
Don't forget to pick up any accessories you may need. I've made a list on the right column of this page.
