Eureka Vacuums Are the Best Value
Surprisingly, Eureka vacuums are actually the best value out of all upright vacuums. When compared to a high end vacuum with a price tag of $999. The Eureka had the same results except for one thing... the Eureka had a longer cord; which makes it more convenient for vacuuming large areas.
Signs of a Good Vacuum
HEPA Air Filter - A good vacuum should have a HEPA air filter which is way better than a regular air filter because they filter some of the smallest particles you can find such as: smoke, pollen, dust mites, animal dander, dust, etc. Most HEPA air filters will filter air particles down to 0.3 microns in size with an efficiency rate of 99.97%. When companies remove asbestos from buildings they use HEPA air filtration systems to get the job done. Floor/Hose Option - A good vacuum will also have the option to switch from vacuuming the floor to redirecting all the suction to the hose only. Many vacuums just move the air through both at the same time, but when using the hose like that, it won't give optimum suction power. Bagged - Despite what most may believe, a bagged vacuum cleaner actually cleans and lasts longer than a bagless vacuum! Made of Metal - Although the Eureka is not made of metal, metal vacuums are a sign of durability. But heck, for $130 I could buy about 7 Eurekas for that one $999 vacuum. I'm sure those 7 will outlast that thing! Deactivate Brush Option - A good vacuum will also treat your floors right. When switching to the "Bare Floor" option, it will stop the brush from moving so it won't scratch your floors.
Of course Eureka Vacuums have all of the regular options such as light, extra attachments, including a "Bear Claw" that works GREAT in cars. A wide base for quicker vacuuming, and a sensor that stops the brush when something gets clogged up in the vacuum. We've actually had our Eureka now for about a year and it still works like new. We also have a pet and it does great on the pet hair as well. We even had a case of fleas in the house once and the Eureka solved that problem quick!
