Wine cooler refrigerators or bar refrigerators are a lot like mini refrigerators. The main difference is bar refrigerators have more features and look a whole lot more jazzy. You can find many with a clear glass front with digital bright blue display, or you can find lower end ones that look like a plain fridge from the outside.

Here I will get into the main differences between these types of refrigerators and give you insight on good places to purchase them from.

Features

Wine cooler refrigerators use thermo-electric cooling systems which have very few moving parts which reduce vibration of the wine. Thermo-electric cooling is also environmentally friendly due to the lack of use of ozone depleting chemicals such as CFCs or HCFCs. They also come in multiple cooling zones. You can set the temperatures to cool red, white, or sparkling wine.

Other features these mini refrigerators possess are versatility in mounting applications. They can be free-standing, on a table, or used as an under counter refrigerator. Higher-end models come with a stainless-steel trim, with dual paned glass, great against UV protection, wood sliding trays to hold the wine, and fit in the same slot under the counter as a dishwasher.

Size

Wine cooler refrigerators come in various sizes. Some are as large and regular refrigerators. Some can be so small they only hold 6 bottles. The best way to determine what size you want is to measure the area where you're thinking of putting it. An under counter refrigerator looks very sleek and stands out. It also flows with the kitchen or bar area. A free standing bar refrigerator still looks nice as well. So it just depends on your application.

Remember to always fit the dimensions of the mini refrigerator with the area of choice to place it. You don't want to order a unit and once it arrives you realize it's the wrong size.

Price

Wine refrigerators can cost anywhere from $100 up into the thousands. Of course the higher end you go the more sleek they look, and the more features, generally, you get. You can still find a dual climate mini refrigerator for under $200 that looks almost like the high-end models.
